WordPress 3.7 update & Responsive Content

WordPress 3.7 has just been released and we have updated all sites already.

The development cycles for WordPress have become much shorter since August this year when version 3.6 was released. For the end of December the release of version 3.8 is already planned which also gets a new default theme “Twenty Fourteen”.

What’s new in version 3.7?

You won’t see any dramatic changes in WordPress 3.7, most of it runs in the background.

  • auto updates for security releases; just like the Chrome and Firefox browsers, WordPress now also has implemented automatic updating for patches and security releases. Updating of themes, plugins and major releases (like from 3.7 to 3.8 in December) still has to be done manually though.
  • better password strength checker; the password check has been enhanced to make sure that passwords (for example when adding a new user) are strong enough.
  • global support; translations of updated WordPress version will now be released faster and more complete.

In other news we are happy to announce that we have just released a new plugin that might come in handy for a lot of people. It is called Responsive Content and has been released under the SO label. For sites that have been built Responsive (which basically means that your site also looks good on smaller devices), this plugin will enable you to adjust the content too. On mobile devices like smart phones people are less likely to read very long pages of content and with the Responsive Content plugin you can easily adjust the text showing on these different devices.

If you would like us to install the Responsive Content plugin for you, please let us know. And of course, if you have any other questions regarding this new version or your site in general, you can also contact us via the usual channels.
